This site has
been devised as an aid to family historians and lists over 3000 individuals whose photographs are
available by request. The photographs and written records are taken from periodicals
published in England contemporary to the war and are now out of copyright. Their content is
as seen from a British and Allied perspective although there are records from both sides of the
conflict.
The individual photographs can be scanned by request and vary in quality being taken from newsprint
over 85 years old and show the customary 'pixelation' of the time. The examples shown on this
site can be taken as typical and although giving a reasonable likeness, are not studio quality.
I would be pleased to scan any of the individual photographs from the list in jpg or other normal format
and attach them to an email, FREE of charge for individual listings. Please do not expect mass
scans of all members of a certain Regiment unless by special arrangement. Please use the links below
to navigate around the site. Happy researching!
