Institution? Deadlines Approaching - Act Now New Legislation introduced in Ireland enables any child abused at certain institutions to claim compensation without going to Court. The abuse includes emotional, physical, sexual abuse and neglect. The average payout to date is approximately $140,000. Applications for the scheme introduced by the Irish Government to compensate former residents who suffered abuse while living at certain institutions such as Industrial Homes and Orphanages throughout the Republic of Ireland CLOSE on 15 December 2005. The scheme does not involve bringing legal proceedings against any individual institution or religious body.
