WOMEN
   Sahih Bukhari's collection, Volume 1, Book 6, Number 299: Narrated 'Abdur-Rahman bin Al-Aswad: (on the authority of his father) ‘Āisha said: "Whenever Allah's Apostle wanted to fondle anyone of us during her periods (menses), he used to order her to put on an Izar and start fondling her."  ‘Āisha added, "None of you could control his sexual desires as the Prophet could."
   1, 6:301: […] The women asked, "O Allah's Apostle! What is deficient in our intelligence and religion?" He said, "Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?" They replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Isn't it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?" The women replied in the affirmative.    3, 31:151:- Narrated Zainab: (daughter of Um Salama)  that her mother said, "While I was (lying) with Allah's Apostle underneath a woolen sheet, I got the menstruation, and then slipped away and put on the clothes (which I used to wear) in menses.  He asked, "What is the matter?  Did you get your menses?"  I replied in the affirmative and then entered underneath that woolen sheet.  I and Allah's Apostle used to take a bath from one water pot and he used to kiss me while he was fasting."
   3, 34:283:- Narrated Qatada: Anas went to the Prophet with barley bread having some dissolved fat on it.  The Prophet had mortgaged his armour to a Jew in Medina and took from him some barley for his family.  Anas heard him saying, "The household of Muhammad did not possess even a single Sa of wheat or food grains for the evening meal, although he has nine wives to look after." (See Hadith No. 685)
   6, 60:10:- ... I also said, 'O Allah's Apostle!  Good and bad persons visit you!  Would that you ordered the Mothers of the believers to cover themselves with veils.'  So the Divine Verses of Al-Hijab (i.e. veiling of the women) were revealed.  I came to know that the Prophet had blamed some of his wives so I entered upon them and said, 'You should either stop (troubling the Prophet) or else Allah will give His Apostle better wives than you.'  When I came to one of his wives, she said to me, 'O 'Umar! Does Allah's Apostle haven't what he could advise his wives with, that you try to advise them?' "  Thereupon Allah revealed:-- "It may be, if he divorced you (all) his Lord will give him instead of you, wives better than you, - Muslims (who submit to Allah)..." (66.5)
   6, 60:139:- Narrated Abdullah:  We used to participate in the holy wars carried on by the Prophet and we had no women (wives) with us.  So we said (to the Prophet ): "Shall we castrate ourselves?"  But the Prophet forbade us to do that and thenceforth he allowed us to marry a woman (temporarily) by giving her even a garment, and then he recited: "O you who believe! Do not make unlawful the good things which Allah has made lawful for you."
   8, 74:257:- Narrated 'Aisha: (the wife of the Prophet) 'Umar bin Al-Khattab used to say to Allah's Apostle "Let your wives be veiled"  But he did not do so.  The wives of the Prophet used to go out to answer the call of nature at night only at Al-Manasi.'  Once Sauda, the daughter of Zam'a went out and she was a tall woman.  'Umar bin Al-Khattab saw her while he was in a gathering, and said, "I have recognized you, O Sauda!"  He ('Umar) said so as he was anxious for some Divine orders regarding the veil (the veiling of women).  So Allah revealed the Verse of veiling. (Al-Hijab; a complete body cover excluding the eyes). (See No. 148, Vol. 1)
   9, 86:98: Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "A virgin should not be married till she is asked for her consent; and the matron should not be married till she is asked whether she agrees to marry or not."  It was asked, "O Allah's Apostle! How will she (the virgin) express her consent?"  He said, "By keeping silent."  Some people said, "If a virgin is not asked for her consent and she is not married, and then a man, by playing a trick presents two false witnesses that he has married her with her consent and the judge confirms his marriage as a true one, and the husband knows that the witnesses were false ones, then there is no harm for him to consummate his marriage with her and the marriage is regarded as valid." < www.usc.edu/ dept/MSA/ fundamentals/ hadithsunnah/ bukhari/086. sbt.html# 009.086.098 >
   Sahih Muslim's, Book 008, Number 3371:- Abu Sirma said to Abu Sa'id al Khadri (Allah he pleased with him):  0 Abu Sa'id, did you hear Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) mentioning al-'azl?  He said: Yes, and added: We went out with Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) on the expedition to the Bi'l-Mustaliq and took captive some excellent Arab women; and we desired them, for we were suffering from the absence of our wives, (but at the same time) we also desired ransom for them.  So we decided to have sexual intercourse with them but by observing 'azl (Withdrawing the male sexual organ before emission of semen to avoid conception).  But we said: We are doing an act whereas Allah's Messenger is amongst us; why not ask him?  So we asked Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him), and he said:  It does not matter if you do not do it, for every soul that is to be born up to the Day of Resurrection will be born.
   Book 008, Number 3383:- Jabir (Allah be pleased with him) reported that a man came to Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) and said:  I have a slave-girl who is our servant and she carries water for us and I have intercourse with her, but I do not want her to conceive.  He said: Practise 'azl, if you so like …
   Sunan Abu-Dawud's, Book 11, Number 2157:- Narrated AbuHurayrah: The Prophet (peace_be_ upon_him) said: He who has intercourse with his wife through her anus is accursed.
   Book 11, Number 2159:- Narrated Abdullah Ibn Abbas: Ibn Umar misunderstood (the Qur'anic verse, "So come to your tilth however you will")--may Allah forgive him.  The fact is that this clan of the Ansar, who were idolaters, lived in the company of the Jews who were the people of the Book.  They (the Ansar) accepted their superiority over themselves in respect of knowledge, and they followed most of their actions.  The people of the Book (i.e. the Jews) used to have intercourse with their women on one side alone (i.e. lying on their backs).  This was the most concealing position for (the vagina of) the women.  This clan of the Ansar adopted this practice from them.  But this tribe of the Quraysh used to uncover their women completely, and seek pleasure with them from in front and behind and laying them on their backs.
   When the muhajirun (the immigrants) came to Medina, a man married a woman of the Ansar.  He began to do the same kind of action with her, but she disliked it, and said to him: We were approached on one side (i.e. lying on the back); do it so, otherwise keep away from me.  This matter of theirs spread widely, and it reached the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_ upon_him).
   So Allah, the Exalted, sent down the Qur'anic verse: "Your wives are a tilth to you, so come to your tilth however you will," i.e. from in front, from behind or lying on the back.  But this verse meant the place of the delivery of the child, i.e. the vagina.
   Book 11, Number 2161:- Narrated Aisha, Ummul Mu'minin: I and the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_ upon_him) used to lie in one cloth at night while I was menstruating.  If anything from me smeared him, he washed the same place (that was smeared), and did not wash beyond it.  If anything from him smeared his clothes, he washed the same place and did not wash beyond that, and prayed with it (i.e. the clothes).
   Malik's Muwatta, Book 55, Number 55.1.2:- Malik related to me from Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir that Umayma bint Ruqayqa said, "I went to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, with the women who took an oath of allegiance with him in Islam. … Umayma continued, "They said, 'Allah and His Messenger are more merciful to us than ourselves.  Come, let us give our hands to you, Messenger of Allah!'  The Messenger of Allah … said, 'I do not shake hands with women. My word to a hundred women is like my word to one woman.' "
CHILD CONNEXION
   Vol. 5, Bk. 58, No. 236 (Sahih Bukhari's collection): Narrated Hisham's father:  Khadija died three years before the Prophet departed to Medina.  He stayed there for two years or so and then he married ‘Āisha when she was a girl of six years of age, and he consumed [[? consummated]] that marriage when she was nine years old. < www.usc.edu/ dept/MSA/ fundamentals/ hadithsunnah/ bukhari/058. sbt.html#005. 058.236 > [[Also read 5, 58: 234]] [[See footnote]]
FIGHTING, ATTACKING, KILLING, TERROR, EXPELLING, JIHAD, HOLY WAR
   Sahih Bukhari's, Volume 4, Book 52, Number 220:- Narrated Abu Huraira:   Allah's Apostle said, "I have been sent with the shortest expressions bearing the widest meanings, and I have been made victorious with terror (cast in the hearts of the enemy), and while I was sleeping, the keys of the treasures of the world were brought to me and put in my hand."  Abu Huraira added: Allah's Apostle has left the world and now you, people, are bringing out those treasures (i.e. the Prophet did not benefit by them).
   Sahih Bukhari's, 5, 59:600:- Narrated Mujahid:  I said to Ibn 'Umar, "I want to migrate to Sham."  He said, "There is no migration, but Jihad (for Allah's Cause).  Go and offer yourself for Jihad, and if you find an opportunity for Jihad (stay there) otherwise, come back."  (In another narration) Ibn 'Umar said, "There is no migration today or after Allah's Apostle."  (and completed his statement as above.)
   Volume 5, Book 59, Number 641:- Narrated Jarir: In the Pre-lslamic Period of Ignorance there was a house called Dhu-l-Khalasa or Al-Ka'ba Al-Yamaniya or Al-Ka'ba Ash-Shamiya.  The Prophet said to me, "Won't you relieve me from Dhu-l-Khalasa?"  So I set out with one-hundred-and-fifty riders, and we dismantled it and killed whoever was present there.  Then I came to the Prophet and informed him, and he invoked good upon us and Al-Ahmas (tribe) . < www.usc.edu/ dept/MSA/ fundamentals/ hadithsunnah/ bukhari/059. sbt.html#005. 059.641 >.    Bukhari's, 6, 60:250:- [***] (Then) they found a boy and Al-Khadir killed him.  Ya'la- said: Said said 'They found boys playing and Al-Khadir got hold of a handsome infidel boy laid him down and then slew him with a knife.    Sahih Muslim's Book 019, Number 4366:- It has been narrated by 'Umar b. al-Khattab that he heard the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) say:  I will expel the Jews and Christians from the Arabian Peninsula and will not leave any but Muslim.
   Sahih Muslim's 19:4450:- It has been narrated on the authority of Ibn Salama.  He heard the tradition from his father who said: We arrived at Hudaibiya with the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) and we were fourteen hundred in number. […] When we and the people of Mecca had concluded a peace treaty … four of the polytheists from the Meccans came to me and began to talk ill of the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him).  … They … lay down (for rest).  (While they lay there), somebody from the lower part of the valley cried out:  Run up, O Muhajirs!  Ibn Zunaim has been murdered.  I drew my sword and attacked these four while they were asleep. […]
   Sunan Abu-Dawud's, Book 14, Number 2678:- Narrated Sa'id ibn Yarbu' al-Makhzumi: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: on the day of the conquest of Mecca: There are four persons whom I shall not give protection in the sacred and non-sacred territory.  He then named them.  There were two singing girls of al-Maqis; one of them was killed and the other escaped and embraced Islam.
   Book 19, Number 2998:- Narrated A man from the companions of the Prophet:  [***] He turned away from them and attacked Banu an-Nadir with an army.  He fought with them until they agreed to expulsion.  Banu an-Nadir were deported, and they took with them whatever their camels could carry, that is, their property, the doors of their houses, and their wood.  Palm-trees were exclusively reserved for the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him).  Allah bestowed them upon him and gave them him as a special portion.
   He (Allah), the Exalted, said: What Allah has bestowed on His Apostle (and taken away) from them, for this ye made no expedition with either camel corps or cavalry." […]
   Malik's Muwatta, Book 9, Number 9.10.36:- Yahya related to me from Malik from Zayd ibn Aslam from Abd ar-Rahman ibn Abi Said al-Khudri from his father that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Do not let anyone pass in front of you when you are praying.  Repel him as much as you can, and, if he refuses, fight him, for he is only a shaytan."
BOOTY MADE LEGAL
   Sahih Bukhari's, Volume 4, Book 53, Number 351:- Narrated Jabir bin Abdullah:  Allah's Apostle said, "Booty has been made legal for me."
   Volume 4, Book 53, Number 352: Narrated Abu Huraira:  Allah's Apostle said, "Allah guarantees him who strives in His Cause and whose motivation for going out is nothing but Jihad in His Cause and belief in His Word, that He will admit him into Paradise (if martyred) or bring him back to his dwelling place, whence he has come out, with what he gains of reward and booty."
   Volume 4, Book 53, Number 353: Narrated Abu Huraira:  The Prophet said, "A prophet amongst the prophets carried out a holy military expedition, so he said to his followers, 'Anyone who has married a woman and wants to consummate the marriage, and has not done so yet, should not accompany me; nor should a man who has built a house but has not completed its roof; nor a man who has sheep or shecamels and is waiting for the birth of their young ones.' So, the prophet carried out the expedition and when he reached that town at the time or nearly at the time of the 'Asr prayer, he said to the sun, 'O sun! You are under Allah's Order and I am under Allah's Order O Allah! Stop it (i.e. the sun) from setting.' It was stopped till Allah made him victorious.
   Then he collected the booty and the fire came to burn it, but it did not burn it. He said (to his men), 'Some of you have stolen something from the booty. So one man from every tribe should give me a pledge of allegiance by shaking hands with me.' (They did so and) the hand of a man got stuck over the hand of their prophet. Then that prophet said (to the man), 'The theft has been committed by your people. So all the persons of your tribe should give me the pledge of allegiance by shaking hands with me.' The hands of two or three men got stuck over the hand of their prophet and he said, "You have committed the theft.' Then they brought a head of gold like the head of a cow and put it there, and the fire came and consumed the booty.  The Prophet added: Then Allah saw our weakness and disability, so he made booty legal for us."
   Volume 4, Book 53, Number 354: Narrated Aslam:  'Umar said, "Were it not for those Muslims who have not come to existence yet, I would have distributed (the land of) every town I conquer among the fighters as the Prophet distributed the land of Khaibar."
EARTH BELONGS TO MUSLIMS
   Sahih Bukhari's, Volume 4, Book 53, Number 380:-
   Narrated Ibn 'Umar:  Umar bin Al-Khattab expelled all the Jews and Christians from the land of Hijaz.  Allah's Apostle after conquering Khaibar, thought of expelling the Jews from the land which, after he conquered it belonged to Allah, Allah's Apostle and the Muslims.  But the Jews requested Allah's Apostle to leave them there on the condition that they would do the labor and get half of the fruits (the land would yield).  Allah's Apostle said, "We shall keep you on these terms as long as we wish."  Thus they stayed till the time of 'Umar's Caliphate when he expelled them to Taima and Ariha.
STONING TO DEATH

   Bukhari's collection, 3, 17:4206 ff :- There came to him a woman … and said:  Allah's Messenger, I have committed adultery, so purify me.  He turned her away. … go away until you give birth … wean him … He entrusted the child to one of the Muslims and … she was put in a ditch up to her chest and he commanded people and they stoned her. … he prayed over her and she was buried.

   Bukhari's, 8, 82:815:- […] The Prophet said, "By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, I will judge you according to the Laws of Allah.  Your one-hundred sheep and the slave are to be returned to you, and your son has to receive one-hundred lashes and be exiled for one year.  O Unais! Go to the wife of this man, and if she confesses, then stone her to death."  Unais went to her and she confessed.  He then stoned her to death.
   Vol. 8, Bk. 82, No. 817:- […] Allah sent Muhammad with the Truth and revealed the Holy Book to him, and among what Allah revealed, was the Verse of the Rajam (the stoning of married person (male & female) who commits illegal sexual intercourse, and we did recite this Verse and understood and memorized it.  Allah's Apostle did carry out the punishment of stoning and so did we after him.
   I am afraid that after a long time has passed, somebody will say, 'By Allah, we do not find the Verse of the Rajam in Allah's Book,' and thus they will go astray by leaving an obligation which Allah has revealed.  And the punishment of the Rajam is to be inflicted to any married person (male & female), who commits illegal sexual intercourse, if the required evidence is available or there is conception or confession.  And then we used to recite among the Verses in Allah's Book: 'O people! Do not claim to be the offspring of other than your fathers, as it is disbelief (unthankfulness) on your part that you claim to be the offspring of other than your real father.' […]

   Sunan Abu-Dawud's, Book 38, Number 4405:- Narrated Nu'aym ibn Huzzal:  Yazid ibn Nu'aym ibn Huzzal, on his father's authority said: Ma'iz ibn Malik was an orphan under the protection of my father.  He had illegal sexual intercourse with a slave-girl belonging to a clan.  My father said to him: Go to the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) and inform him of what you have done, for he may perhaps ask Allah for your forgiveness.  His purpose in that was simply a hope that it might be a way of escape for him.
   So he went to him and said: Apostle of Allah! I have committed fornication, so inflict on me the punishment ordained by Allah.  He (the Prophet) turned away from him, so he came back and said: Apostle of Allah!  I have committed fornication, so inflict on me the punishment ordained by Allah.  He (again) turned away from him, so he came back and said: Apostle of Allah! I have committed fornication, so inflict on me the punishment ordained by Allah.
   When he uttered it four times, the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) said: You have said it four times.  With whom did you commit it?
   He replied: With so and so. […] He was then taken out to the Harrah, and while he was being stoned he felt the effect of the stones and could not bear it and fled.  But Abdullah ibn Unays encountered him when those who had been stoning him could not catch up with him.  He threw the bone of a camel's foreleg at him, which hit him and killed him.  They then went to the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) and reported it to him.
   He said: Why did you not leave him alone.  Perhaps he might have repented and been forgiven by Allah.
   Malik's Muwatta, Book 41, Number 41.1.1:- Malik related to me from Nafi that Abdullah ibn Umar said, "The Jews came to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and mentioned to him that a man and woman from among them had committed adultery.  The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, asked them, 'What do you find in the Torah about stoning?'  They said, 'We make their wrong action known and flog them.'  Abdullah ibn Salam said, 'You have lied!  It has stoning for it, so bring the Torah.'  They spread it out and one of them placed his hand over the ayat of stoning.  Then he read what was before it and what was after it.  Abdullah ibn Salam told him to lift his hand.  He lifted his hand and there was the ayat of stoning.  They said, 'He has spoken the truth, Muhammad.  The ayat of stoning is in it.'  So the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, gave the order and they were stoned." […]
CUT OFF BODY PARTS, EYES PUT OUT

   Sunan Abu-Dawud's, Book 38, Number 4356: - Narrated Abdullah ibn Umar: Some people raided the camels of the Prophet (peace_be_ upon_him), drove them off, and apostatised.  They killed the herdsman of the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_ upon_him) who was a believer.  He (the Prophet) sent (people) in pursuit of them and they were caught.  He had their hands and feet cut off, and their eyes put out.  The verse regarding fighting against Allah and His Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) was then revealed.  These were the people about whom Anas ibn Malik informed al-Hajjaj when he asked him.
   Book 38, Number 4357:- Narrated AbuzZinad: When the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_ upon_him) cut off (the hands and feet of) those who had stolen his camels and he had their eyes put out by fire (heated nails), Allah reprimanded him on that (action), and Allah, the Exalted, revealed: "The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Apostle and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is execution or crucifixion."
   Book 38, Number 4359:- Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: The verse "The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Apostle, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides or exile from the land…most merciful" was revealed about polytheists.  If any of them repents before they are arrested, it does not prevent from inflicting on him the prescribed punishment which he deserves.
SLAVES
   Bukhari's collection, Volume 8, Book 80, Number 741: Narrated 'Aisha:  'Utba (bin Abi Waqqas) said to his brother Sa'd, "The son of the slave girl of Zam'a is my son, so be his custodian."  So when it was the year of the Conquest of Mecca, […] they both went to the Prophet.  Sa'd said, "O Allah's Apostle!  (This is) the son of my brother and he told me to be his custodian."  Then 'Abu bin Zam'a said, "(But he is) my brother and the son of the slave girl of my father, born on his bed."  The Prophet said, "This child is for you.  O 'Abu bin Zam'a, as the child is for the owner of the bed, and the adulterer receives the stones."  He then ordered (his wife) Sauda bint Zam'a to cover herself before that boy as he noticed the boy's resemblance to 'Utba.  Since then the boy had never seen Sauda till he died. < http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/fundamentals/hadithsunnah/bukhari/080.sbt.html#008.080.741 >
JEWS
   Bukhari's collection, Volume 2, Book 23, Number 457:- Narrated Abi Aiyub:  Once the Prophet went out after sunset and heard a dreadful voice, and said, "The Jews are being punished in their graves."
   Vol. 9, Bk. 84, No. 58:- [Regarding a Jew who had become a Muslim, then returned to Judaism:]  Mu'adh said, I will not sit down till he has been killed. … and he was killed. < www.usc.edu/ dept/MSA/funda mentals/hadith sunnah/bukhari/ 084.sbt.html# 009.084.058 >.

   Sahih Muslim's collection, 41:6985:- … Allah's Messenger … saying The last hour would not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews and the Muslims would kill them until the Jews would hide themselves behind a stone or a tree …
   Sunan Abu-Dawud's, Book 19, Number 2996: - Narrated Muhayyisah: The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_ upon_him) said: If you gain a victory over the men of Jews, kill them.  So Muhayyisah jumped over Shubaybah, a man of the Jewish merchants.  He had close relations with them.  He then killed him.  At that time Huwayyisah (brother of Muhayyisah) had not embraced Islam.  He was older than Muhayyisah.  When he killed him, Huwayyisah beat him and said:  O enemy of Allah, I swear by Allah, you have a good deal of fat in your belly from his property.  [[See footnote]]
   Malik's Muwatta, Book 45, Number 45.5.19:- Malik said, "Umar ibn al-Khattab expelled the Jews from Najran (a Jewish settlement in the Yemen) and Fadak (a Jewish settlement thirty miles from Madina).  When the Jews of Khaybar left, they did not take any fruit or land.  The Jews of Fadak took half the fruit and half the land, because the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, had made a settlement with them for that.  So Umar entrusted to them the value in gold, silver, camels, ropes and saddle bags of half the fruit and half the land, and handed the value over to them and expelled them."
   Book 53, Number 53.2.3:- Yahya related to me from Malik from Abdullah ibn Dinar that Abdullah ibn Umar said that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "When a Jew greets you, and says 'Death to you' (as-samu alaykum) say, 'And to you'."  Yahya said, "Malik was asked whether a person who greeted a Jew or Christian, should apologise for it.  He said, 'No'."

   Sahih Bukhari's, Volume 1, Book 12, Number 749:- … Allah's Apostle said, "Say Amen' when the Imam says "Ghair-il-maghdubi 'alaihim wala-ddal-lin; not the path of those who earn Your Anger (such as Jews) nor of those who go astray (such as Christians); all the past sins of the person whose saying (of Amin) coincides with that of the angels, will be forgiven. < www.usc.edu/ dept/MSA/ fundamentals/ hadithsunnah/ bukhari/012. sbt.html# 001.012.749 >
   Sahih Muslim's, Book 037, Number 6670:- Ibn Shihab reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) made an expedition to Tabuk and he (the Holy Prophet) had in his mind (the idea of threatening the) Christians of Arabia in Syria and those of Rome. [***]
   Sunan Abu-Dawud's, Book 41, Number 5186:- Narrated AbuHurayrah: Suhayl ibn AbuSalih said: I went out with my father to Syria.  The people passed by the cloisters in which there were Christians and began to salute them.  My father said: Do not give them salutation first, for AbuHurayrah reported the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_ upon_him) as saying: Do not salute them (Jews and Christians) first, and when you meet them on the road, force them to go to the narrowest part of it.
   Malik's Muwatta, Book 17, Number 17.25.47:- Yahya related to me from Ibn Shihab from Salim ibn Abdullah from his father that Umar ibn al-Khattab used to take a twentieth from the cereals and olive oil of the Nabatean Christians, intending by that to increase the cargo to Madina. He would take a tenth from pulses.

   3, 39:519:- The Prophet got the date palm trees of the tribe of Bani-An-Nadir burnt and the trees cut down at a place called Al-Buwaira.  Hassan bin Thabit said in a poetic verse:  "The chiefs of Bani Lu'ai found it easy to watch fire spreading at Al-Buwaira."
   Volume 4, Book 53, Number 380:- Narrated Ibn 'Umar: Umar bin Al-Khattab expelled all the Jews and Christians from the land of Hijaz.  Allah's Apostle after conquering Khaibar, thought of expelling the Jews from the land which, after he conquered it belonged to Allah, Allah's Apostle and the Muslims.  But the Jews requested Allah's Apostle to leave them there on the condition that they would do the labor and get half of the fruits (the land would yield).  Allah's Apostle said, "We shall keep you on these terms as long as we wish."  Thus they stayed till the time of 'Umar's Caliphate when he expelled them to Taima and Ariha.
   4, 53:386:- Narrated Jubair bin Haiya:  Umar sent the Muslims to the great countries to fight the pagans.  When Al-Hurmuzan embraced Islam, Umar said to him. "I would like to consult you regarding these countries which I intend to invade." […] Our Prophet, the Messenger of our Lord, has ordered us to fight you till you worship Allah Alone or give Jizya (i.e. tribute); and our Prophet has informed us that our Lord says:– "Whoever amongst us is killed (i.e. martyred), shall go to Paradise to lead such a luxurious life as he has never seen, and whoever amongst us remain alive, shall become your master." […]
   9, 84:57:- … Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him.
   Sunan Abu-Dawud, Book 39, Number 4491:- Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: A believer will not be killed for an infidel.  If anyone kills a man deliberately, he is to be handed over to the relatives of the one who has been killed.  If they wish, they may kill, but if they wish, they may accept blood-wit.
APOSTATES
   Sahih Bukhari's, Volume 9, Book 84, Number 57:- Narrated 'Ikrima: Some Zanadiqa: (atheists) were brought to 'Ali and he burnt them.  The news of this event reached Ibn 'Abbas who said, "If I had been in his place, I would not have burnt them, as Allah's Apostle forbade it, saying, 'Do not punish anybody with Allah's punishment (fire).'  I would have killed them according to the statement of Allah's Apostle, 'Whoever changed his [Islamic] religion, then kill him'. "

THE CALL TO PRAYER
   Sunan Abu-Dawud, Book 2, Number 0498: - Narrated AbuUmayr ibn Anas:  AbuUmayr reported on the authority of his uncle who was from the Ansar (the helpers of the Prophet):  The Prophet (peace_be_ upon_him) was anxious as to how to gather the people for prayer.
   The people told him: Hoist a flag at the time of prayer; when they see it, they will inform one another.  But he (the Prophet) did not like it.  Then someone mentioned to him the horn.
   Ziyad said: A horn of the Jews.  He (the Prophet) did not like it.  He said: This is the matter of the Jews.  Then they mentioned to him the bell of the Christians.  He said: This is the matter of the Christians.  Abdullah ibn Zayd returned anxiously from there because of the anxiety of the Apostle (peace_be_upon_him).  He was then taught the call to prayer in his dream.  Next day he came to the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) and informed him about it.
   He said: Apostle of Allah, I was between sleep and wakefulness; all of a sudden a newcomer came (to me) and taught me the call to prayer.  Umar ibn al-Khattab had also seen it in his dream before, but he kept it hidden for twenty days.
   The Prophet (peace_be_ upon_him) said to me (Umar): What did prevent you from saying it to me?
   He said: Abdullah ibn Zayd had already told you about it before me: hence I was ashamed.
   Then the Apostle of Allah (peace_be_ upon_him) said: Bilal, stand up, see what Abdullah ibn Zayd tells you (to do), then do it.  Bilal then called them to prayer. […]
INVISIBLE REALMS
   Sahih Bukhari's, Volume 2, Book 21, Number 245:- Narrated 'Abdullah: A person was mentioned before the Prophet (p.b.u.h.) and he was told that he had kept on sleeping till morning and had not got up for the prayer. The Prophet said, "Satan urinated in his ears." [[See footnote]]
   4, 54:516:- Narrated Abu Huraira:  The Prophet said, "If anyone of you rouses from sleep and performs the ablution, he should wash his nose by putting water in it and then blowing it out thrice, because Satan has stayed in the upper part of his nose all the night."
   Volume 4, Book 54, Number 522:- Narrated Abu Huraira:  The Prophet said, "When you hear the crowing of cocks, ask for Allah's Blessings for (their crowing indicates that) they have seen an angel.  And when you hear the braying of donkeys, seek Refuge with Allah from Satan for (their braying indicates) that they have seen a Satan."
   4, 54:539:- Narrated Abu Talha:  The Prophet said, "Angels do not enter a house which has either a dog or a picture in it."
   Volume 4, Book 56, Number 688:- Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "A man used to do sinful deeds, and when death came to him, he said to his sons, 'After my death, burn me and then crush me, and scatter the powder in the air, for by Allah, if Allah has control over me, He will give me such a punishment as He has never given to anyone else.'  When he died, his sons did accordingly.  Allah ordered the earth saying, 'Collect what you hold of his particles.'  It did so, and behold! There he was (the man) standing.  Allah asked (him), 'What made you do what you did?'  He replied, 'O my Lord!    Volume 5, Book 58, Number 200:- Narrated Abu Huraira: That once he was in the company of the Prophet carrying a water pot for his ablution and for cleaning his private parts.  While he was following him carrying it (i.e. the pot), the Prophet said, "Who is this?"  He said, "I am Abu Huraira."  The Prophet said, "Bring me stones in order to clean my private parts, and do not bring any bones or animal dung."  Abu Huraira went on narrating:  So I brought some stones, carrying them in the corner of my robe till I put them by his side and went away.  When he finished, I walked with him and asked, "What about the bone and the animal dung?" He said, "They are of the food of Jinns.  The delegate of Jinns of (the city of) Nasibin came to me--and how nice those Jinns were--and asked me for the remains of the human food.  I invoked Allah for them that they would never pass by a bone or animal dung but find food on them."
   6, 60:252:- Narrated Musab: I asked my father, "Was the Verse:-- 'Say: (O Muhammad) Shall We tell you the greatest losers in respect of their deeds?'(18.103) revealed regarding Al-Haruriyya?"  He said, "No, but regarding the Jews and the Christians, for the Jews disbelieved Muhammad and the Christians disbelieved in Paradise and say that there are neither meals nor drinks therein.  Al- Hururiyya are those people who break their pledge to Allah after they have confirmed that they will fulfill it, and Sad used to call them 'Al-Fasiqin (evildoers who forsake Allah's obedience).
   6, 60:380 (and see 379):- … So did Allah convey the Inspiration to His slave (Gabriel) and then he (Gabriel) conveyed that to Muhammad.'  He said, "Abdullah (bin Mas'ud) informed us that Muhammad had seen Gabriel with six hundred wings."

MIRACLES
   Volume 4, Book 53, Number 353: Narrated Abu Huraira:  The Prophet said, "A prophet amongst the prophets carried out a holy military expedition, ... and when he reached that town at the time or nearly at the time of the 'Asr prayer, he said to the sun, 'O sun! You are under Allah's Order and I am under Allah's Order O Allah!  Stop it (i.e. the sun) from setting.'  It was stopped till Allah made him victorious.
   Then he collected the booty and the fire came to burn it, but it did not burn it.  He said (to his men), 'Some of you have stolen something from the booty.  So one man from every tribe should give me a pledge of allegiance by shaking hands with me.'  (They did so and) the hand of a man got stuck over the hand of their prophet.  Then that prophet said (to the man), 'The theft has been committed by your people.&nsp; So all the persons of your tribe should give me the pledge of allegiance by shaking hands with me.'  The hands of two or three men got stuck over the hand of their prophet and he said, "You have committed the theft.'&nsp; Then they brought a head of gold like the head of a cow and put it there, and the fire came and consumed the booty.  The Prophet added: Then Allah saw our weakness and disability, so he made booty legal for us."
PRACTICES
   Bukhari's, Volume 1, Book 6, Number 293: Narrated Al-Qasim: 'Aisha said, "We set out with the sole intention of performing Hajj and when we reached Sarif, (a place six miles from Mecca) I got my menses.  Allah's Apostle came to me while I was weeping.  He said 'What is the matter with you?  Have you got your menses?'  I replied, 'Yes.'  He said, 'This is a thing which Allah has ordained for the daughters of Adam.  So do what all the pilgrims do with the exception of the Taw-af (Circumambulation) round the Ka'ba."  'Aisha added, "Allah's Apostle sacrificed cows on behalf of his wives."
   Volume 1, Book 6, Number 309: Narrated 'Aisha: None of us had more than a single garment and we used to have our menses while wearing it.  Whenever it got soiled with blood of menses we used to apply saliva to the blood spot and rub off the blood with our nails.
   Vol. 1, Bk. 12, No. 814-815 (and see 7, 65:362-363):- The Prophet said, "Whoever eats garlic or onion should keep away from our mosque or should remain in his house."
   3, 50:891:- [***] Urwa then started looking at the Companions of the Prophet. By Allah, whenever Allah's Apostle spat, the spittle would fall in the hand of one of them (i.e., the Prophet's companions) who would rub it on his face and skin; if he ordered them they would carry his orders immediately; [***]

   4, 54:540:- Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar:  Allah's Apostle ordered that the dogs should be killed.
   4, 54:542 Narrated Sufyan bin Abi Zuhair Ash-Shani:  That he heard Allah's Apostle saying, "If somebody keeps a dog that is neither used for farm work nor for guarding the livestock, he will lose one Qirat (of the reward) of his good deeds everyday."

   5, 58:249:- Narrated ‘Āisha:  The first child who was born in the Islamic Land (i.e. Medina) amongst the Emigrants, was 'Abdullah bin Az-Zubair.  They brought him to the Prophet.  The Prophet took a date, and after chewing it, put its juice in his mouth.  So the first thing that went into the child's stomach, was the saliva of the Prophet.
   8, 73:245 (yawning comment also at 4, 54:509):- The Prophet said, "Allah loves sneezing but dislikes yawning;  so if anyone of you sneezes and then praises Allah, every Muslim who hears him (praising Allah) has to say Tashmit to him.  But as regards yawning, it is from Satan, so if one of you yawns, he should try his best to stop it, for when anyone of you yawns, Satan laughs at him."
   Volume 8, Book 74, Number 258: - Narrated Sahl bin Sa'd: A man peeped through a round hole into the dwelling place of the Prophet, while the Prophet had a Midray (an iron comb) with which he was scratching his head. The Prophet said, " Had I known you were looking (through the hole), I would have pierced your eye with it (i.e., the comb)."  Verily!  The order of taking permission to enter has been enjoined because of that sight, (that one should not look unlawfully at the state of others). (See Hadith No. 807, Vol. 7)
   Volume 8, Book 74, Number 259: Narrated Anas bin Malik:  A man peeped into a room of the Prophet.  The Prophet stood up, holding an arrow head.  It is as if I am just looking at him, trying to stab the man.
   Sahih Muslim's, Book 2, Number 0509:- People say when you go to the latrine, you should neither turn your face towards the Qibla nor towards Bait-ul-Maqdis.  Abdullah said (farther): I went up to the roof of the house and saw the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) squatting on two bricks for relieving himself with his face towards Bait-al-Maqdis. < www.usc.edu/ dept/MSA/ fundamentals/ hadithsunnah/ muslim/002. smt.html# 002.0509 >
   Book 2, Number 0510:- Abdullah b. Umar said: I went up to the roof of the house of my sister Hafsa and saw the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) relieving himself facing Syria, with his back to the Qibla.
   Book 2, Number 0511:- Abu Qatada reported it from his father: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: None of you should hold penis with his right hand while urinating, or wipe himself with his right hand in privy and should not breathe into the vessel (from which he drinks).
   Book 2, Number 0513:- Aba Qatada reported: The Messenger of Allah (way peace be upon him) forbade (us) to breathe into the venel, to touch the penis with the right hand and to wipe after relieving with right hand.
   Book 2, Number 0523:- Abu Wa'il reported:  Abu Musa inflicted extreme rigour upon himself in the matter of urination and urinated in a bottle and said:  When the skin of anyone amongst the people of Israel was besmeared with urine, he cut that portion with a cutter.  Hudhaifa said: I wish that'your friend should not inflict such an extreme rigour.  I and the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) were going together till we reached the dumping ground of filth behind an enclosure.  He stood up as one among you would stand up, and he urinated, I tried to turn away from him, but he beckoned to me, so I went to him and I stood behind him, till he had relieved himself.
   Sunan Abu-Dawud's collection, Book 3, Number 1002:- Narrated Al-Azraq ibn Qays: […] The man who has been present with him at the first takbir in the prayer then got up to pray another prayer, whereupon Umar leaped up and, seizing him by the shoulders, shook him and said:  Sit down, for the People of the Book perished for no other reason than that there was no interval between their prayers.  The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) raised his eyes and said: Allah has made you say what is right, son of al-Khattab.
   Sunan Abu-Dawud's, Book 3, Number 1042:- Narrated Aws ibn Aws: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: Among the most excellent of your days is Friday; on it Adam was created, on it he died, on it the last trumpet will be blown, and on it the shout will be made, so invoke more blessings on me that day, for your blessings will be submitted to me.  The people asked: Apostle of Allah, how can it be that our blessings will be submitted to you while your body is decayed?  He replied: Allah, the Exalted, has prohibited the earth from consuming the bodies of Prophets.
   Book 41, Number 4920:- Narrated AbuMusa al-Ash'ari:  The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) said: He who plays backgammon disobeys Allah and His Apostle.
   Malik's Muwatta, Book 15, Number 2817: - […] Narrated Ata' ibn Yasar:  A man of Banu Harith was pasturing a pregnant she-camel in one of the ravines of Uhud, (he saw that) it was about to die; he could find nothing to slaughter it; he took a stake and stabbed it in the upper part of its breast until he made its blood flow.  He then came to the Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) and informed him about that, and he ordered him to eat it. […]
NATURE AND THIS WORLD

   4, 54:518:- Narrated Ibn Umar: That he heard the Prophet delivering a sermon on the pulpit saying, "Kill snakes and kill Dhu-at-Tufyatain (i.e. a snake with two white lines on its back) and ALBATROSS (i.e. a snake with short or mutilated tail) for they destroy the sight of one's eyes and bring about abortion."  (Also read 4, 54, 527-529)
   4, 54:537:- The Prophet said "If a house fly falls in the drink of anyone of you, he should dip it (in the drink), for one of its wings has a disease and the other has the cure for the disease."
   6, 60:326:- Narrated Abu Dharr:  Once I was with the Prophet in the mosque at the time of sunset.  The Prophet said, "O Abu Dharr!  Do you know where the sun sets?"  I replied, "Allah and His Apostle know best."  He said, "It goes and prostrates underneath (Allah's) Throne; and that is Allah's Statement:-- 'And the sun runs on its fixed course for a term (decreed).  And that is the decree of All-Mighty, the All-Knowing....' (36.38)
   6, 60:457 Narrated Al-Amash: Abu Huraira added. "Then (after this period) Allah will send water from the sky and then the dead bodies will grow like vegetation grows, There is nothing of the human body that does not decay except one bone; that is the little bone at the end of the coccyx of which the human body will be recreated on the Day of Resurrection." (See Hadith No. 5, 60:338)
   Sunan Abu-Dawud's Book 14, Number 2483:- Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As:  The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: No one should sail on the sea except the one who is going to perform hajj or umrah, or the one who is fighting in Allah's path for under the sea there is a fire, and under the fire there is a sea.

INHERITANCE
   Bukhari's, Volume 8, Book 80, Number 718:- Narrated 'Aisha:  Fatima and Al 'Abbas came to Abu Bakr, seeking their share from the property of Allah's Apostle and at that time, they were asking for their land at Fadak and their share from Khaibar.  Abu Bakr said to them, " I have heard from Allah's Apostle saying, 'Our property cannot be inherited, and whatever we leave is to be spent in charity, but the family of Muhammad may take their provisions from this property."  Abu Bakr added, "By Allah, I will not leave the procedure I saw Allah's Apostle following during his lifetime concerning this property."  Therefore Fatima left Abu Bakr and did not speak to him till she died.    Volume 8, Book 80, Number 731:- Narrated Ibn 'Abbas:  (During the early days of Islam), the inheritance used to be given to one's offspring and legacy used to be bequeathed to the parents, then Allah cancelled what He wished from that order and decreed that the male should be given the equivalent of the portion of two females, and for the parents one-sixth for each of them, and for one's wife one-eighth (if the deceased has children) and one-fourth (if he has no children), for one's husband one-half (if the deceased has no children) and one-fourth (if she has children)."
   Volume 8, Book 80, Number 756:- Narrated Usama bin Zaid:  the Prophet said, "A Muslim cannot be the heir of a disbeliever, nor can a disbeliever be the heir of a Muslim."
WORST PAGAN HARM TO PROPHET
   Sahih Bukhari's, Volume 6, Book 60, Number 339:- Narrated Urwa bin Az-Zubair:  I asked 'Abdullah bin 'Amr bin Al-'As to inform me of the worst thing the pagans had done to Allah's Apostle.  He said: "While Allah's Apostle was praying in the courtyard of the ka'ba, 'Uqba bin Abi Mu'ait came and seized Allah's Apostle by the shoulder and twisted his garment round his neck and throttled him severely.  Abu Bakr came and seized 'Uqba's shoulder and threw him away from Allah's Apostle and said, "Would you kill a man because he says: 'My Lord is Allah,' and has come to you with clear Signs from your Lord?" (40.28)
FIGHTING AT CONQUEST OF MECCA
   Sahih Bukhari's, 3, 29:58:- Narrated Said bin Abu Said Al-Maqburi:  Abu Shuraih, Al-'Adawi said that he had said to 'Amr bin Sa'id when he was sending the troops to Mecca (to fight 'Abdullah bin Az-Zubair), "O Chief! Allow me to tell you what Allah's Apostle said on the day following the Conquest of Mecca. … If anybody tells (argues) that fighting in it is permissible on the basis that Allah's Apostle did fight in Mecca, say to him, 'Allah allowed His Apostle and did not allow you.'  "Allah allowed me only for a few hours on that day (of the conquest) and today its sanctity is valid as it was before. …"
   Sunan Abu-Dawud's, Book 14, Number 2678:- Narrated Sa'id ibn Yarbu' al-Makhzumi: The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: on the day of the conquest of Mecca: There are four persons whom I shall not give protection in the sacred and non-sacred territory.  He then named them.  There were two singing girls of al-Maqis; one of them was killed and the other escaped and embraced Islam.

   6, 60:457 Narrated Al-Amash: Abu Huraira added. "Then (after this period) Allah will send water from the sky and then the dead bodies will grow like vegetation grows, There is nothing of the human body that does not decay except one bone; that is the little bone at the end of the coccyx of which the human body will be recreated on the Day of Resurrection."
