Close up view on dash The first position selected for the Magellan GPS320 mounting. The base plate for the mounting is under the dash mat. a small hole has been mde in the dash mat to allow the post to attach to the base.
View from left hand side A more overall view, showing the location near the instrument binnacle.
From drivers position The GPS320 as viewed from the drivers viewpoint.
Cradle mounting point The rear of the Magelan cradle. This is the main body of the standard GPS320 swivel mounting bracket. The four holes seen at the back are for the vehivle mouniting arm.
Aluminim mounting plate The home made aluminium plate cut to size and drilled to fit the Magellan cradle, and threaded to suit the (security) camera mount.

Baseplate on dash The base of the security camera mount. This is attached to the dash with three screws. In my Range Rover this is covered by the dash mat.
Security camera mount A video security camera mounting bracket. This is supplied as a base, ball joint and two different sized posts. These can be screwed together to adjust the height/length of the mount.

Bolt used as "tap" I did not have a 1/4" tap at the time of the first bracket, so I used a 1/4" bolt. I used a bench grinder to taper the end, and then ground the groove that you see here. This groove has a "sharp" leading edge to help cut the thread into the aluminium
"tap wrench" The "tap wrench" used to turn the "tap" shown in the previous image.
